"I find my work is always going through stages.
Sometimes it has a primitive feel - hand built or sculptural; sometimes wheel
thrown - more refined and colorful.
But always inspired by some "thing" in the natural world
(or that unnatural world just below the surface).
The feel of a cold winter night, the patterns on a canyon
wall; the shape of a tree; the mystery of snow or a bird in flight. All
suggest a story that I find myself attempting to give form to in clay.
Clay, that wonderfully forgiving, absolutely frustrating,
sometimes dangerous, always unpredictable medium that has held my attention for
nearly 40 years."
